The Process
From the first conversation to the finished book, the process typically takes six to nine months.
Each project is fully bespoke and tailored to your story, goals, and materials. We provide a detailed proposal after an initial conversation, with most families investing meaningfully over several months as the book takes shape.
Discovery
We begin with conversations to understand your goals and what you’d like to include.
Together, we outline your story by focusing on the experiences, places, and relationships that matter most. We also determine what to photograph, from portraits and homes to meaningful locations.
By the end, you’ll have a clear vision of the story and next steps.
Typical duration: 4–6 weeks
Production
We begin with a working draft for your review, ensuring the book reflects your story and intent.
Your narrative and imagery are then arranged in a layout that balances text, photography, and white space—making each page feel purposeful and alive. This stage blends design and storytelling, shaping how readers move through memory and meaning in a cohesive, artful way.
Restored archival materials are seamlessly integrated with new photography.
We oversee production with master printers and binders to ensure every detail, from layout to finish, reflects your story.
Typical duration: 1–2 months
Creation
This stage starts with a series of recorded in-person interviews led by Scott, typically 12 to 20 hours across multiple sessions.
These conversations form the foundation of your story, exploring key moments, motivations, and turning points. In parallel, James builds the visual narrative through 3–4 photo sessions, capturing locations like your company, second home, or meaningful places from your past.
We also review any archival materials - photos, letters, or documents - and finalize restoration plans.
Typical duration: 2–3 months
Edition
Each book is printed on archival, acid-free paper with fine-art inks that preserve tone and detail. Pages are hand-sewn and bound, allowing the book to lie flat when open.
Covers are custom-made in linen, leather, or vellum, with debossed titles and optional slipcase or box. Every material is selected to match the story’s tone.
The result is personal and lasting—a work of literature and portraiture, made to be held and passed down.
Typical duration: 2–4 weeks
We Tell Your Story
Essential Edition
Your Story in Focus
The Essential Edition is a concise, well-structured memoir that highlights key moments, themes, and milestones in your life or work. It focuses on clarity and strong storytelling.
Two photo sessions capture portraits and meaningful settings. We create images that reflect who you are and what matters most to you. The visual style is simple and purposeful, supporting the narrative without distraction.
Through focused conversations, we build a narrative that captures the core of your story and organizes it in a clear, readable way.
This edition is ideal if you want a personal, polished book that feels complete without being elaborate. It offers a strong framework, distinct voice, and carefully chosen images.
Legacy Edition
A Deeply Crafted Portrait
The Legacy Edition offers a deeper, more expansive memoir shaped by layered storytelling and broader themes.
Four photo sessions document the people and relationships that shape your life—family, partners, mentors, or collaborators—adding emotional range and visual context.
Through longer conversations, we explore your experiences and values in depth, shaping a story that connects personal history with meaning and reflection.
This edition is best for those who want a memoir with depth and dimension—one that captures both your life and the relationships that define it.

James is an internationally recognized photographer whose work has appeared in leading publications and exhibitions. Over more than two decades, he has created images known for their emotional depth and honesty.
His recent book, Aphasia, explores the non-linear path of healing through visual narrative. For James, photography is a way to translate memory into form and to reflect what he sees in others at a precise moment in time.
He approaches each portrait with sensitivity and intention, balancing truth and interpretation to create images that feel both timeless and deeply human.
“Every image balances truth and meaning. I’m interested in the space in between the two, that’s where you find what’s beautiful.”
— James Andrew Rosen
